Blog 4: Partners in crime

At the end of the episode when Donna finds out that The Doctor will let her travel with him, she is so excited she can’t even drop her mom’s car off and has her stuff already packed to leave. Why is Donna so eager to leave home and go with The Doctor?
Through conversations with The Doctor it seems that Donna had a chance to travel with him in the past and could have continued the adventure, but she decided to go back to her regular life. When she got back to her normal life she found that it was too boring, and she was missing out on too much. This is the reason she is investigating the same company that The Doctor is. She was actually looking for him in events that seemed related to alien events, because it appears that The Doctor is some kind of time traveling, alien, policeman. She had already made the choice to leave before she found him; that is a reason why she was so eager to leave. Another reason could be Donna’s relationship with her mother. When she came home all she got was nagging from her mother and left the house to go visit her dad on the hill. At the end of the episode she waves goodbye to her father as she flies into the sky, and her father cheers and waves back. I think everyone was ready for her to move on and that is why she was so eager to leave.
Toward the end of the episode The Doctor tries to warn Miss Foster that the ship won’t take her and even though she didn’t listen he still tried to save her life. Why would the doctor try to save someone he was just trying to stop and someone who was trying to kill him?
I think The Doctor tried to save Miss Foster because that’s what he thought was right and because he is looking out for humans and aliens alike. In the episode Donna called The Doctor an alien; so I assume he is at least part non-human even though he looks like a normal man. This would be that he could have connection to aliens and not want them dead even if they are breaking the law. Death wasn’t a just punishment for the crime she committed and The Doctor knew that. He even said it was a good weight lose plan if it didn’t turn the whole person in to little fat creatures. In the end I think The Doctor just knew it was wrong to let her die and tried his best to save her.
