In this
episode Caroline meets herself in her real body, but they seem like two
completely different people. If the same person is in two bodies are they
different people?
I think
that they are different people because a huge part of what a person is is their
memories. In this episode memories could be the only way to define a person because
bodies can be switched so easily. The little girl Caroline doesn’t have the same
memories because she has been through different experiences than the original
Caroline. If a person goes straight from one body to another I feel they would
be the same, but when they live on in one and are later uploaded in another it
seems completely different. I’d say that one person can be uploaded into
multiple bodies, but they would all be slightly different people not the same
one.
In the
episode a bunch of techs come that can upload different skills they carry to
their brain and take out skills to allow room for new ones. If the technology
is capable of such seemingly good things why did everything turn out so bad?
It seems to
be in human nature to not know when to stop or if they do there is always
someone who will keep pushing the limit of technology and the boundaries of
ethics. This ability to learn new skill so quickly was amazing, but as is human
nature they wanted bigger and better things that could make more and more
money. If they stopped at the technology to learn new things quickly everything
could have turned out well but they couldn’t resist pushing farther and
switching bodies. Even that wasn’t so bad until people yet again pushed and
used the technology as a weapon. I think technology will always cause harm
because it is what will eventually happen with so many people. The trick is to
not let it grow so fast it gets out of hand.
