The writers of Dollhouse use the services of Dollhouse to
argue that the forcing of the dolls to unknowingly perform other people’s
fantasies is morally wrong because they are removing the doll’s ability to make
decisions for themselves.
A scene for this would be when sierra gets raped by the body guard. She does whatever he says, and she is forced to sleep with him. And a real life application could be slavery.
I would use the scene where Sierra starts screaming when Victor tries to talk to her and talk about how confused Victor was. The actives weren't themselves. They didn't know what was going on. Victor didn't know if he had done anything wrong which shows that what the Dollhouse was doing was morally wrong. They had no idea what they were doing because they weren't themselves.
An easy real world connection would be child abuse and the psychological damage it can cause. I agree with Zach about using the scene where sierra screams when Victor touches her. Since she is under mind control, she doesn't know who or what hurt her. Much like the way children are so naive and innocent that they do not understand how somebody close to them could hurt them.
A real world application for this could be the multiple sex trafficking rings around the world and the human trafficking rings

ReplyDeleteThe scene where Echo fights Paul can be used to support.

ReplyDeleteI find the scene where Sierra screams at Victor to be more of a scene where you would have to dig deeper to draw that out for this thesis
