Blog 6: Lost "Pilot: Part 1"

In this episode when Charlie falls and gets stuck while the three characters are running away Jack stops running and goes back to save him.  How does this speak of Jack's character?

This shows how much of a true leader Jack is.  Since the beginning of the episode he had saved countless peoples' lives whom he didn't even know and this fell right into line with his actions so far.  Jack seems to be a true hero, and an intelligent person, both intellectually and situationally.  Jack's decision to go back and save Charlie while in the midst of running from some monster that had just killed someone just further shows that Jack is a brave and respectable person.

After the plane crashed you are shown many characters, one of which is an Asian man and woman.  The man says to the woman that she is to not leave his sight and follow him wherever he goes.  Later when it is raining, the two are sheltered under part of the plane and a person tries to take shelter with them but the man ushers him away.  How does this speak of this man?

The part where he tells the girl to not leave his sight and follow him wherever he goes shows that he cares for this girl and doesn't want anything to happen to her.  When he tells her this they are speaking another language, which makes it seem as though they might not know english; in which case they would want to stick together.  This could explain why he doesn't want her to leave his sight.  And when he ushers the man away from taking shelter with them this could be because he does not know the man and was simply worried that he could endanger both himself and the girl. Since they have only spoken in another language so far, he might also do this because that other man is an outsider to him and the girl, and he wants for those two, and those two only, to stick together
