Blog 14: Paper summary

Introduction:  The main argument of my paper is, “The writers of Dollhouse use the greed and corruption paired with the Dollhouse technology, which led to the destruction of the civilized world we know, to show how technological advances in new and dangerous fields could lead to destruction without proper foresight and regulation.” I would start the paper by giving an evolution of the Dollhouse technology because that would show how they lacked the foresight and regulation to make such a thing. It would show the greed and corruption that spoiled the seemingly great technological advancements. This background would also show how most civilization, at least civilization as they knew it, was destroyed by the technology.
Scene 1: Use the scene at the end of "Epitaph One" where Caroline in the little girl’s body says, “It was playing with matches and they burned the house down.”
Analyze 1: Shows how dangerous the Dollhouse technology was and a perspective of the surviving characters looking back at what happened and what went wrong.
Scene2/Analyze2: Undecided
Real world connection: A real world connection is the atomic bomb that was created in World War II. I think it fits well, because it is an example of a technological advancement that didn’t have the proper foresight and was later regretted. I would have to do more research on specifics, but I know many of the creators regretted their work.

  1. I like the point you made here, that we might be advancing technology too quickly without really looking into what could come from it
