Blog 7: Star Trek: "Measure of a Man" Notes

-The characters are all playing poker as Data gets introduced to the trick of bluffing

- Commander Picard meets up with Captain Louvois and they both show to have a love/hate relationship.

- Commander Picard and Data meet with Commander Maddox to speak about modifications, research, and technology, as Commander Maddox wants to study and do research on Data.

- Commander Picard seems uneasy as to why Maddox is so eager to study Data, but at this point he has no say.

- Data starts to get the idea that he has a choice of whether he wants to be studied on or not when Picard asks him what he really wants to do.

- Picard goes again to meet with Captain Louvois to seek help in gaining rights for Data and gains the oppurtunity to have a case held to help Data.

- Maddox refers to Data as "it" multiple times.

- Data has only the choices to resign from the fleet, undergo the research, or possibly the right to choose to remain in the fleet and no undergo research

- Commander Riker is chosen out of free will to help prosecute Maddox's ideals

- Picard is on the losing side so far as RIker has a very compelling arguement, so Picard goes to speak with Guinan.

- Picard believes that Maddox is just interested to create more androids like Data to do very dangerous and undesireable jobs; like slavery.
