Blog 13: Needs

In the scene where the 5 main dolls wake up as normal human beings in the sleep chamber. They all seem to be restarted or refreshed of their unknowing state. Why are they all of a sudden regular people again?

It appears that these people had dreams that snapped them out of their former Doll states. It could have been the encrypted programming that someone was sneaking into them. They don't have a clue where they are or what is going on. Victor thinks he remembers Cierra but she doesn't recognize him. Another possible thing could be that Topher's tech isn't as solid as he makes it sounds and he is actually causing them to regain thoughts and memories.

In the final scene of this episode Paul listens to a voice-mail from Echo. How did the Dollhouse let that call get out to him?

The person in charge of security or tracking may have let the call go through. They could have had enough of the atrocities that have been occurring in the Dollhouse. Also, Echo could have gotten a hold of someone's personal cell phone, such as the lady that Echo knocked out when trying to steal the gun. That call could potentially bring down the Dollhouse and with as much security as they have installed in the building itself. One would think that the employees themselves would have security in their phones as well.

  1. I agreed with your assessment, and was slightly shocked to find out that the dollhouse knowingly let the actives regain a conscious state of mind to find satisfaction.

  2. Right, they gave them the "tech" to be normal again just to take it away from them after an experiment to see what they would do.
