Blog 6: The Walking Dead: "TS-19"

When the building begins to shutdown why is Jenner so vague on what is going to happen?

Jenner is extremely paranoid and some what suicidal. He became miserable being by himself for so long and has no hope for the others either. He wants and end so he locks them in and explains what is going to happen when the time runs out. Rick and Shane try to appeal to the doctor to let them out. Dr. Jenner doesn't appear to want to let them out.

Dr. Jenner whispers something to Rick as everyone runs out. What did he whisper to him?

It could have been information about a safe haven. Dr. Jenner was a very vague man and what he said could have been literally anything from "good luck" to "good bye." The reaction on Rick's face made it appear that Jenner did not pass on good news. Rick doesn't tell anyone else about it either. Maybe as to keep from adding even more stress to the situation. Another possible idea could be that Jenner gave important information about the disease and how to avoid it or how it can't be avoided.

  1. I think the writers of this episode actually added more tension to the situation by keeping what Dr. Jenner whispered to Rick a secret. Judging by Rick's reaction it disturbed him. He probably has an internal conflict now with whatever it is he just heard. That's where the tension lies because we don't know if its a negative or a positive for the group.
