Blog 7: The Walking Dead "Days Gone Bye" Notes

Opening Scene:

Rick drives up to an abandoned road with beat up cars and some dead bodies. He is a police sheriff and is in uniform. He searches around the cars for gas and hears a little girl that is seemingly normal. She turns around and is a zombie; she charges and Rick is forced to take out his gun and shoot her in the head.
Other details: teddy bear, empty gas station, rotten bodies, beat up cars

Rick and Shane(partner) are responding to a high speed chase and get into a gun fight with the criminals when Rick is shot in the back.

Unconscious in hospital when Shane brings flowers. Rick wakes up talking to who he thinks is Shane but no one is there and the power is out. Flowers are dead and wilted, clock is dead.

Cant hardly stand. Hospital is completely abandoned and there is dead body in hallway; apparently eaten on by something. Rick walks to a door marked "Don't Open, Dead Inside" and gray hands reach through with ominous breathing sounds coming from it. Comes outside to a town barren of people with dead bodies everywhere.

Rick wanders around and finds half of a zombie in a park. He returns to his home to find that Karl and Lori. He doesn't find them so he goes outside. A young black boy sneaks up and hits him with a shovel. His father runs up asking about Rick's wound. Rick passes out.

Dwaynes father explains what has happened to everyone and in the morning the three go to the police station to shower and get supplies. They go their separate ways. Rick stops to shoot the zombie from the park then sets out to find his wife and son.

Dwaynes father goes upstairs to shoot his wife who had became a zombie before Rick showed up. It is clearly very difficult. He can't bring himself to do it. Rick begins his drive to Atlanta. He radios a distress call and another group, that includes Shane, hears but is unable to respond.

Rick arrives at a house in need of gas, the people inside have "opted out." He can't get gas but they do have a horse. He rides it to Atlanta but the city is overrun by walkers that attack and eat the horse as Rick frantically finds refuge in an abandoned tank. Inside is a dead zombie soldier that Rick shoots but the blast is so loud that it disorients him.

Just when Rick thinks there is no hope a voice comes on the radio in the tank. He stares in disbelief. The episode ends with a pan out of the city that is completely covered in walkers.
